14 months and 9,502 miles in the Rivian R1S, and my charging complaint fell apart on camera.
I traded a Gen 1 R1T for this Gen 2 R1S expecting an upgrade, and some of it went the other way. The Large Pack shrank from about 131 kWh to about 108, the sustained charging speed drops to 140 to 145 kW where the R1T held 180 to 215, and on hot road trips it has stopped charging outright. Then I plugged into a Rivian Adventure Network stall at 113F with the AC running and watched it peak at 220 kW, so I take the whole thing back in the same video.
Everything else after 14 months: the liftgate that still hits my garage door with no custom height, the profile and Trip B software bugs, two service visits total, $1,009 California registration against $1,220 for the R1T, the 2027 configurator forcing a $7,000 Long Range pack on you to unlock the $5,700 all terrain wheels, and why Driver+ is enough and Autonomy+ is not worth $49.99 to me. Verdict at the end, and it is a yes.
