Every year farmers spend thousands on equipment they're told they need. Almost nobody asks one question before swiping the card: Will this generate or save me $10,000 in the next 12 months?

Five purchases, one filter. BCS walk-behind tractor ($3,500–$8,000): saves ~100 hours/season = $2,500–$3,500 in labor value. Doesn't pass. Buy used, rent, or consider a compact utility tractor with financing. Delivery van ($15,000–$20,000): passes only if it unlocks restaurant accounts you can't serve without it. Five accounts at $200/week = $50K gross over 50 weeks. Without confirmed accounts, start with your car and a cooler. Walk-in cooler ($3,000–$8,000): passes on waste reduction alone — 10–20% spoilage on $60K production = $6,000–$12,000 lost without one. Plus it unlocks multi-day selling windows. Caterpillar tunnel (~$3,000): passes — two extra shoulder-season months at premium pricing = $12,000–$20,000 in additional revenue. Greenhouse ($20,000–$60,000): passes conditionally — stabilizes year-round customer relationships, but only if market streams justify it before you build.

The pattern: every purchase that passes unlocks revenue you couldn't access before. The one that fails makes current work easier but doesn't open a new door.
