In a conversation with one of my private mentoring clients last week, they told me that they had finally created a piece of music that they felt SUPER proud of, and excited to listen to. The kind of piece where you listen back to it and almost can't believe you made it.
I asked them what felt different about this piece in particular; what about it do you love so much?
You might expect their answer to have been about the mix, or the composition itself, or some other technical aspect of the music... but instead they simply said:
"You can hear the joy in it. The music sounds joyful."
From my perspective, this is *huge*.
Finding joy in our music-making practice, emphasizing play and exploration, following what makes us happy... whether it's quirky gremlin sounds or expansive ambient spaces, or anything in between.
When you create from a place of joy, it will come through in your music and others will hear it. ā¤ļø
