"Unwound" is a semi-improvised piece for modular synth, voice, and MaxMSP. It explores experimental voice + vocal processing techniques, and fragmented, jumbled samples: Piano strings, vintage synthesizers, blurry choral passages, pops + clicks + tiny percussive sounds...
Everything was recorded live from my studio in a single take -- for this project, it felt important to me to let the music be as live and spontaneous as possible, like capturing a "sonic snapshot" of this particular moment.
