I make a Router Sled Wood Planer to flatten the top of logs I had ripped lengthwise in half freehand with a chainsaw. If you don't have a jointer or a planer and you need to flatten large wood slabs or difficult-to-flatten lumber or logs, building a simple DIY router sled could be the answer.

A router is bolted to a sled that rides along two parallel rails that are attached to the sides of the frame with clamps. I have made this wood router planer sled from materials I had in the workshop. Cheap and simple!

This router jig worked very well for me, and I am looking forward to flattening some large wood slabs and workbench tops. It is easy to move and set up. I think it is going to get used quite a bit in the future.
I am using a 1/2" Shank 2-1/4" Diameter Bottom Cleaning Router Bit to flatten this lumber.

Always use all the correct safety gear, and use your tools safely. I am not a good role model for this.
