Through my maternal line, my grandmother's father, I've had incredible fortune in tracing his
maternal line. That is due to researches from the Canary Islands doing all the work, for many years.
The Spanish, and the Catholic church kept detailed records very well across the centuries.
These researchers have transcribed many of those old baptism, marriage, and death records. I'm luck to coincide with one of the researchers, and their family lines. It also helped, that my family has documents, such as my great grandfather's birth certificate, and in it, as is typical in the Spanish world, they name his parents as well as his 4 grandparents.
And through that, I was able to hitch a genealogical ride with the Canarian researchers.
Through all this, I found I have indigenous Canary Island ancestors in my direct line, as well as other interesting ancestors with different backgrounds, which we'll look at.
