In this video I'm kicking off a new project that I'm calling the "Compact Dust Collection Workbench." Too many buzz words? Probably. Basically this design is my answer to the small garage workshop where space is at a premium. This little piece of shop furniture has built-in dust collection, drawer storage, and integrates the Kreg ACS (Adaptive Cutting System). It's mounted on 4 locking casters so it can be easily moved around the shop where needed.
What I'm hoping is that this solves 2 major problems in any small shop: breaking down plywood and dust collection. The integrated dust collection is great to use for the ACS and Plunge Saw, but it can also be wheeled just about anywhere and used for other tools as well! This replaces the need for a dust collection cart...which are very 1-dimensional. Follow along on part 1 of this journey as I build this project in my temporary shop...without any major tools. In fact, you really only need 3 major tools to build this project: Circular saw, Drill, and a Jig-Saw. I did invest in a Kreg plunge/track saw which made breaking down the larger sheets of MDF very easy.
