I needed to come up with a simple solution to helping my "vertically challenged" dogs get in and out of our screened in porch. I recently installed a dog door in the exterior laundry room door but that only gets the dogs into the screened in area - which is slightly elevated.
Instead of propping open the screened in porch door...which defeats the purpose of the whole "screened in" thing, I decided I needed to figure out a way to get them easily in and out. My solution was to add a secondary dog door in the screen and a simple access ramp that would safely and easily allow the dogs to get down to the ground.
I started this build without a concrete plan but a general idea of what I wanted to accomplish. I used all outdoor rated materials including treated 2x4's, composite decking, outdoor screws, stainless steel adjustable feet, and some gate hinges.
