Come along for a 360° drive through Morganton, North Carolina, filmed with the new Insta360 X6 mounted on top of my Toyota Highlander.
This was really an impromptu experiment. I wanted to see what kind of image quality the X6 and its new 1-inch sensor could deliver while also giving viewers an updated look at Burke County's primary city.
Starting near Morganton Public Safety, we'll drive through much of downtown, while I point out local shops and restaurants, Courthouse Square, churches, parks, barber shops, theaters, historic buildings and some of the other places that give downtown Morganton its character.
We'll also take a drive through the beautiful grounds of Broughton Hospital, where the historic buildings and striking Gothic architecture make for some particularly interesting 360° views.
One of the fun things about shooting this with a 360 camera is that you're not limited to where the camera was "pointed" when the video was recorded. I can change the view afterward, look to the side, behind the vehicle, straight ahead—or spin completely around—which makes a simple drive through town a lot more interesting.
So this video is part Morganton driving tour, part Insta360 X6 real-world camera test, and mostly just an excuse to take a drive around town and share imagery of what's changed.
