It’s only Week 2 of my new hugelkultur winter garden, and things are already looking surprisingly good!
The collard greens, cabbage and lettuce have all put on noticeable growth since last week — with some of the collards appearing to have gained several inches. It’s beginning to look like this experiment just might give us a real winter harvest.
In this update I take another walk through my raised bed and show how everything is progressing. This time I shot the video with the Insta360 X6, which gave me some unusual moving and wraparound views of the garden that I couldn't get with my usual iPhone shots.
And, naturally, Hendrix the Goldendoodle decided a garden update needed a little supervision.
If things continue at this pace, I'm hoping we'll begin harvesting some of these cool-season vegetables later this fall. Follow along and we'll find out together whether this hugelkultur bed that fed me through the summer can do it again through the colder months.
