#NewMusicFriday: When I first started this project, I thought I’d only be able to gather a few people to do this video, but this turned out to be the biggest video we’ve done so far. Les Misérables is one of the earliest shows I saw in the West End and has since been amongst my favourites. It’s also a very special show for the girls appearing in this video cos for many of them it’s the first professional show they did.
In this video, we have Little Cosettes and Young Éponines from the West End and UK & International Tour in the past ten years. Inspired by the 30th Anniversary Gala performance at the Queen’s Theatre, this is a medley of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ and ‘On My Own’. We’re lucky to have roughly the same number of Little Cosettes and Young Éponines, so we decided Little Cosettes sing ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ as she’s Fantine’s daughter and Young Éponines sing ‘On My Own’. Organising the order of appearance for each video took a lot of time. I had to draw a spreadsheet to mark down all the information. You’ll see that their order of appearance in the video is according to the years they were in the show. Although it took a lot of time and effort to put this together, it’s a real pleasure for me to do this. As you may have seen in previous posts and stories, they’ve also shared some lovely photos from the show, which I will continue sharing.
It’s the first time such a big group of Little Cosettes and Young Éponines perform together. I hope next time we’ll have the Gavroches to join us too – and when circumstances allow, perhaps these amazing singers can have a big performance together!
