‘Wow’ was my first reaction when we finished recording this medley last Saturday. This was all rehearsed and recorded in under four hours!
Over the past five years, we’ve done over a hundred videos, including a few medleys. Some of you would remember our Page to Stage Medley, Disney Medley and a few others based on different shows. But all of those were done online and I spent hours painstakingly piecing together every video.
Last Saturday was different – we all came together in London to do this in the same room. Everyone came in bearing their immense talent and passion, so all we had to do was a fine-tuning process. We worked on our harmonies, the segues between songs, decided who to sing which lines – and we were good to go!
What you see here really was the one and only full take we had! We did a ‘rehearsal’ take, which unfortunately the camera failed to capture the very end. It’s truly impressive that this talented group managed to perfect this mashup of fourteen iconic musical numbers in a single session!
But I believe we haven’t just achieved something amazing musically. We’ve all made some new friends and enjoyed our time together – that’s what @loveofmusicals is all about! This was our first recording and filming session together and I’m proud to add this to the growing list of things we do.
I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this happen. First of all, our amazing accompanist George, who played brilliantly throughout the whole session. Thank you to our chaperones, who looked after and supported everyone (myself included). They also helped with taking photos, filming videos, setting up, etc. Thank you to all the amazing, supportive parents. It was lovely to meet you. And most of all, thank you to all the wonderful singers, who brought so much talent, passion and joy to this medley. Thank you so much for being part of this!
