In Part 1 of building my custom 3D-printed AI desktop assistant, I design the enclosure, select the electronics, and assemble the physical console!
Powered by an ESP32 microcontroller, this mini desktop terminal is built to interface with AI models (cloud APIs or local LLMs like Ollama) to act as a physical voice and chat assistant right on my desk. In this video, we cover 3D printing the chassis, mounting the display, audio components, and prepping the wiring layout for Part 2.
TIMESTAMPS:
0:00 - The ESP32 AI Terminal Concept
1:02 - 3D Printing the Desktop Enclosure & Acoustic Challenges
3:26 - Assembly & Wiring
11:03 - Cable Gauge change
11:40 - The Assembly Continues
15:15 - Display cussom connectors
17:12 - Teaser: Firmware & AI Integration in Part 2!
HARDWARE & COMPONENTS USED:
- ESP32 Development Board
- OLED / TFT Display Module
