I’ve built a fully automated smart motorhome using solar, WiFi and smart tech I can control from anywhere

Today I’m showing you my full smart motorhome setup and how I control the Land Yacht while I’m not even in it. This is all about motorhome automations, using solar properly, and switching things on and off remotely so the van does the boring bits for me. If you’ve ever thought “I wish I could control my motorhome from my phone”, this is exactly that.
I’m running Meross smart plugs for things like fans, power stations and charging, plus Victron Cerbo so I can check my battery level and control the inverter while I’m out. When the solar is coming in and the hab batteries are basically full, I can flick on a plug and dump some of that spare power into charging my EcoFlow or Bluetti, then set it to auto-switch off after a set time so I don’t come back to a dead hab battery and a smug power station.
The best bit is the fridge. I’ve made my Dometic fridge “smart” by sticking it on a smart plug so I can switch it between gas and 230v remotely and save gas on sunny days. I’ve got fail-safes too, because I’m not risking the bacon, wings and cheese. I use a Blink camera to check what mode it’s on, plus SwitchBot temperature sensors in the fridge and freezer with alerts if temps creep up.
I also control my MaxxFans through SwitchBot IR hubs with automations based on temperature, I’ve got a robot finger to press the ice maker button from my phone, and I’ve even made my Vanguardian alarm “smart” using a sound-triggering camera so my phone pings the second it kicks off. I finish off showing how I can automate Starlink power windows as a backup connection, plus ideas for taking this even further.
