If you're curious just how good a 3D scan can be with your phone on such a small 3D model with tons of detail, this is the video for you! I've been testing 3D scanning for some time now, I've been impressed with the results, but not so much for models like this one. I finally figured out what the problem was and how to solve it, along the way I also came upon a few new methods to achieve even better results. Scanning small models requires the use of a different camera lens, and it turned out that one of the main reasons for my struggle was because of that exact reason. Scanning a model is just one example, which is really an extreme test of the capability, in my mind, scanning items around the shop to reproduce is the next step. Scanning something which has broken and needs to be replaced, scanning something and then further improving it is another, the list goes on and I'm sure you have ideas of your own. I think it will become another useful tool in our arsenals of design and engineering.

For future, I wouldn't mind taking this process a step further in a separate video to see if a different lens, or a different camera would help to achieve even better results, let me know if the sounds interesting to you.

I truly hope this video helped some of you, or at least you found it interesting. I try to keep the videos as short as possible and filled with as much information and good quality video as possible.

Please forgive the vocals in the last segment of the video, I was quite sick and partially lost my voice.
