Why do so many doctors think that removing ovaries will remove hormones in women? Do they not realise that the hormones progesterone, estradiol and testosterone are also made in the brain, adrenal glands and other organs?

Removing ovaries without replacing hormones is just wrong and harmful to many women. It would be unacceptable to remove another hormone producing organ - such as the thyroid - and not prescribe hormones back to a patient. So why do so many gynaecologists remove ovaries in young women and if they do prescribe hormones, why do they only prescribe estradiol?

In this week’s podcast, Jenny shares her experience of undergoing surgery for PMDD and why her journey didn’t end after her surgical menopause.
