I started this run on July 2nd which follows the route seen on youtube by Galamoz. It started off as a bit of fun but later decided to finish it off in a theory TAS fashion for entertainment purposes and to provide many room strategies for future runners. I later learned there are many routes already established for this hack so hopefully this theory run can be used as a comparison for later theory runs to eventually single out the fastest possible route. Although this route follows galamoz's, it has a couple more optimal path choices in key areas. Such as the top right door instead of the bottom route after collecting wave beam when going to Maridia, and a more optimal path west out of Maridia after killing Draygon.
Missed strats:
5:45 - I should have backflipped into the spikes and then jumped over to the door.
7:15 - Should have backflipped through the door instead of jumping through to bounce ball down the gap.
8:50 - Damage boost for first super pack (feasible?)
17:44 - Botwoon probably could have easily been dispatched in 3 rounds instead of 4.
19:41 - Should have kept a jump through the door and mock balled through the pirate and into the tunnel.
23:25 - GT was lazily played on my part, but he is a real pain to deal with. This 'lazy strat' is not safe and it can fail if you don't have enough health.
28:34 - I could have kept the echoes into the next room for the breakable wall instead of using a power bomb.
31:36 - I probably didn't need the super pack since you can end phase 1 of MB with less than 50 ammunition. I lost about 3 seconds. It would be a nice quick pack to collect in a real-time run though.
31:50 - I could have pressed down before the crumble blocks to spark through the door on the right.
34:30 - After using the big backflip I could have changed to spin jump animation to space jump onto the ledge.
35:40 - Should have pressed down to prepare a shinespark before taking the ride back into Maridia to spark left onto the slope.
36:55 - Should have shinesparked into Draygons lair by keeping echoes after the space jumps.
46:04 - Should have shot once while crouched to clear a one block high gap and roll across. This significantly reduces lag and the time spent shooting to create your pathway.
50:18 - Could have backflipped off this platform instead of the spring ball and landed further left.
These are all strats I've spotted so far so there's bound to be dozens more waiting to be discovered. There are also a couple of smaller movement errors in early game which was a result of me not having as much experience with the physics compared to what I had learned later on. Things such as wrongly choosing to ledge grab instead of stacking speed on successive jumps.
Credits go to Galamoz for his youtube run which 99% of this run follows, to Reeve for pointing out some strats along the way and to Smokey for converting the smv and uploading the run. Final Credit goes to RealRed for creating one of the best hacks of Super Metroid out there !
