Nearly 50 sled dog teams from across North America are competing in either a 30 mile, 100 mile or 250 mile race through the upper St. John Valley.

For mushers, it’s a chance to showcase skills that can only come from hundreds of hours of raising and training their dogs.

Results for the 30 and 100 mile races will be announced Saturday. The 250 mile race will likely conclude Monday.
