During WW2 a way to ensure more allied bombers could return from their missions was needed. The obvious way was to add more armour, however allied leaders where not sure exactly where to put that extra protection. So the Statistical Research Group from Columbia University was used. Abraham Wald, was able to come up with a theory known as Survivorship Bias. This would go on to prove correct and help save countless lives.
