It’s that time of year again - tree planting season! 🌱 In this video, we take you along for a full day of work around the homestead: tackling stubborn weeds in the garden (I’m looking at you, creeping Charlie), pulling out an old peach tree that never quite made it, and planting new fruit trees we picked up from our county's conservation district sale.
We added a Ranier cherry, a Benton sweet cherry, and a blazing star peach to the orchard—and they’re looking fantastic so far. Plus, we finally saw signs of life from our asparagus patch we planted last year, so fingers crossed they keep thriving.
Beyond that, we loaded up on white spruce and sugar maple saplings, some for the homestead and some for the cabin. The conservation district sales are such a great way to get affordable, native trees that are built for your growing zone. If you haven’t checked them out, now’s the time.
