In 1963, Vietnamese People's Air Force received their first jet fighter - MiG-17. But they were not yet ready to meet first American airstrikes against their country. This changed on 03 April 1965 when six MiG-17s were launched to intercept American fighter-bombers attacking bridges at Than Hoa. The day ended in the first claimed victories for VPAF jet fighters.
