One of the common complaints about Apple's Homekit smarthome platform is that it's near impossible to customize your notifications. In this video, I walk though how to use the Homekit Convert to Shortcut automations to be able to reach out to IFTTT as your notification engine.

As I'm slowly trying to move all of my automations into the Apple ecosystem, I really wanted to keep as much as possible in native Homekit. Using the Convert to shortcuts URL feature allows me to have a native Homekit automation reach out to a IFTTT Webhook address which is connected to a notification service.

Although it's not 100% Homekit, it is super simple to configure and should allow many Homekit users to customize their notifications fairly easily.
