I have spent months of my life living in Airbnbs all over the world and I've picked up a lot of tips and best practices on how to use Airbnb like a pro as a result. First of all, using the flexible search functions for both dates and locations on Airbnb can help you find the best listings at the best price. You can also use the many filters to narrow things down and find that needle in a haystack of a thousand listings. From there, you wanna look for rentals with multiple five-star reviews and keep an eye out for red flags like reviews that mention surprise fees or communication issues with the host. The “Guest Favorite” filter and Superhost tags on properties can give you extra peace of mind or you can even do a reverse image search to see if the property is listed multiple times which is another easy red flag to spot. I’ve saved thousands of dollars by booking month-long stays with 40% to 60% discounts and you can also save cash by messaging the host directly and seeing if you can strike a deal on a last-minute booking. My favorite thing about Airbnbs over traditional hotels is some of the unique accommodations you can find and while there aren't as many mile point options with these vacation rentals, you can still cover the cost of an Airbnb using benefits like the cover travel purchases feature through Capital One Travel where any travel purchase can be covered with Capital One miles at a redemption value of one cent per point which definitely isn't the best redemption value in the world, but has allowed me to create some incredible travel memories that a traditional hotel just wouldn't have offered.
