These Fiji Airways business class seats normally cost over $4,000…but we paid just $1,500 without using a single mile or point. Let me explain. This was a ten-hour overnight flight from Fiji to Los Angeles on their newer Airbus A350, which features a one-two-one reverse herringbone layout with fully lie-flat seats that let us get plenty of rest. My only gripe is that there’s no door, so you feel a little exposed in the aisle… but honestly, not the end of the world. The staff was incredible. Hot towels, welcome drinks, and super friendly service the entire flight. Honestly, they were the highlight of the whole experience. And the food surprised us too. A few menu items were missing, but everything we actually had was fantastic. So how did we book it? Well, we were coming home from New Zealand, so instead of booking Auckland to Fiji and then Fiji to Los Angeles separately, we booked Auckland to Los Angeles with a five-day stopover in Fiji, which dropped the price to under nine hundred dollars in economy, saving us about five hundred dollars each compared to booking the tickets separately. Then, with the money we saved, we used Fiji’s Bula Bid upgrade system and patiently waited for the minimum offer to drop. Once it did, we bid just a few dollars over the minimum, which was accepted at nine hundred sixty-six dollars per person. Total cost? About fifteen hundred bucks, so definitely not cheap… but a lot better than the four-thousand-dollar price tag these seats usually sell for.
