Melon plants can be grown as cordons.
To grow big fruits, I remove all baby melons until the plant is quite tall and then it has sufficient energy to grow a few melons.
Even in my polytunnel, it’s ONLY just hot enough in this climate to succeed melons. So this method can give rapid growth and ripening before summer ends.
I’m growing Malaga, Emir and Lottie in this hottest side of my polytunnel.
