A beginner's guide to literary and cultural theory, based on Peter Barry's (2017) book, "Beginning Theory" (Fourth Edition). In this part, I discuss psychoanalytic theory, some of its aims and potentials in helping us engage with texts more deeply. This series is intended to enrich and expand our reading life, as everything we read is an occasion for theoretical engagement.
