1. Set x-axis (frequency) interval to octaves.
2. Locate the peak for the filter.
3. Find -3dB on each side of the peak. Is it less or more than an octave?
As the filter peak approaches 3dB, it will no longer use -3dB for the BW calculation. That's about as far as my understanding goes at the moment.
