🖌️ If you’re struggling with painting handpainted textures, don’t start blind.

Learn to jumpstart your stylized textures by baking ambient occlusion directly from a low-poly mesh using Marmoset Toolbag’s low-to-low baking workflow (goodbye, high poly!).

By baking AO first, you give yourself a foundation to identify areas of shadow and depth.

From there, your AO map is layered directly into the Texture Project to influence albedo, and combined with directional lighting layers, used as a base for confident, intentional handpainting.

If you paint stylized assets and want a faster starting point, this workflow is for you.
