Learn how to number paragraphs in Microsoft Word for Mac. Paragraph numbers can be used to cross-reference bookmarks. They are also helpful when reviewing documents with other people.

After adding the paragraph numbers, we will adjust the spacing between the numbers and paragraphs, start with a different number other than one, and remove the numbers when they are no longer necessary.

These steps apply to Word for Microsoft 365 for Mac, Word 2021 for Mac, Word 2019 for Mac, and Word 2016 for Mac.
