If you've already mastered basic covered buttons, this is the natural next step. The whole process:
- Cut your interfacing square to your button template size
- Cut four ribbon pieces slightly longer than the interfacing so you have a little ease to work with
- Weave the ribbons one at a time, alternating over and under
- Fuse with your iron — this is what stops the ribbons from shifting during the rest of the process
- Sew a small x stitch at the center intersection, but essential for keeping the weave together over time
- Proceed exactly as you would with any covered button
The result looks like a tiny piece of handwoven fabric. Such a difference as a finishing detail.
