DIY aquarium algae scrubber. Possibly world’s smallest :)
Foamex sheets might be difficult to find. You can try ebay. Search 5mm foamex, or 1mm foamex.
You could also do this with acrylic or other plastic, I’m sure. If you use acrylic, you should use acrylic cement, not superglue.
I'm showing you how this can be made at home. You could make one as strong as you want and as big as you want depending on your tank size.

The hole in the middle tank:
I haven’t done water changes since the setup, only top offs. It’s been a fun little project. I’ve been feeding the shrimp with tetramin flakes once a day. It’s a wonder how he’s still alive and doing well.
The guppy grass didn’t seem to want to grow upwards where the water pressure is low. Hornwort didn’t seem to care. The daphnia laid bunch of eggs instead of giving live birth. I guess that means they don’t like the water. The yield isn’t big enough to feed the fish, but they’re hanging on.
My flowerhorn recovered and is doing fine. The remedy was giving him the usual complete darkness at night, and lowering water temperature.
