Gina-B Silkworks | How to make a sunflower button / tutorial @GinaBSilkworks | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 8 hours ago.
This tutorial shows you how to make a thread button with a sunflower design. It is a variation of my Texas Yellow Star button design, and can be easily adapted to other flower types. Add a little pin at the back and it is perfect to wear to show support.
The button base is worked using a zwirnknopfe technique, with the flower petals created using needle weaving.
---
Material used :
Ring Button mould 35mm
(I've used the largest ring from our Circle Stacker Button Moulds No 45)
Finca Perle No 8
(I've used blue, yellow, green, golden yellow & brown - for different flowers or backgrounds, you'll need different colours)
A tapestry needle
scissors
---
Extra items shown:
Circle Gauge Set
Button Maker's Third Hand & Tool Tin
All of the above items can be found on our website at
