This knitting tutorial demonstrates how to do the Old Norwegian Cast On - which is also called the German Twisted Cast On. This technique is very similar to the long tail cast on method, but has an extra step and results in a stretchier edge.
This way of casting on is mostly used for socks, where a stretchy & comfy edge is definitely what you want.
