This simple knitting pattern involves only knits, purls and slip stitches, so it's great for beginners. The result is vertical stripes on a reverse stockinette stitch background, and I think the alternating design makes it much more interesting to look at. Just note that it's not as stretchy as classic knit/purl ribbing.
