Upstate in Grand Theft Auto III can finally be explored! Now with an incredibly impressive and fleshed out mod, quite literally opening up the tunnels to a world that rivals the size of the three islands combined. This huge mod is incredible, but getting the original version of Grand Theft Auto III working on modern computers could be a bit of a pain, so this tutorial will show you everything needed to get your vanilla version of the game modded up with several awesome quality of life fixes.
This tutorial requires you to use the original Windows release of Grand Theft Auto III on PC. This is NOT for consoles or for the Definitive Edition of the game! Additionally, this tutorial covers both Windows and SteamOS installations for those with a Steam Deck. I'm sure these steps can be adapted to other Linux installations as long as you can install the game and run Proton.
