If you want to get stronger at a movement, do more of that movement. This is a universal rule for anybody who’s wanting to increase their functional strength or mobility in a certain movement.
If you’re struggling to do that movement, well, then limit your range of motion at that movement or go slower. The rule still applies. The fastest way to get stronger at a certain movement is to do that exact movement repeated.
This does not mean that you can’t do other exercises that support the movement you’re trying to get stronger at. Strengthening parts of your body that’s involved in a certain movement always helps. But the most direct way to improve your functional strength and add a movement is to do that specific movement repeatedly.
