In this DROPS video we show you how to increase with yarn overs from the right side. On the next row (wrong side), we work the yarn overs so the increased stitches twist towards the right and towards the left. Often called “Make 1 Right” (M1R) and “Make 1 Left” (M1L).

BEFORE STARTING THE VIDEO:
We have already worked some rows with increases.

THE VIDEO SHOWS:
ROW 1 (from the right side):
Increase by making 1 yarn over. On the next row (wrong side) work the yarn over as follows:
ROW 2 (from the wrong side):
BEFORE THE MARKER (new stitch twists to the right):
Purl the yarn over through the stitch-loop which lies on the back of the needle to avoid a hole.
AFTER THE MARKER (new stitch twists to the left):
Slip the yarn over onto the right needle purl-wise, place it back on the left needle by inserting the left needle through the back of the yarn over (which is now turned around). Purl the yarn over through the stitch-loop which lies on the front of the needle to avoid a hole.
