I will show you how to get the Mushroom Staff in Terraria 1.4.5.
This is an item that we can craft.
But to do this, we first need to defeat the boss of the evil biome.
Namely, the Eater of Worlds or the Brain of Cthulhu.
But we don't necessarily have to kill them completely.
It is enough to kill a few Creepers or destroy a few parts of the Eater of Worlds' body.
This will give us 5 Shadow Scales or Tissue Samples.
After that, we need to go to the Glowing Mushroom biome.
There, we need to obtain 300 Glowing Mushrooms.
We also need to obtain 5 Mushroom Grass Seeds.
We have gathered all the resources.
So we go to the Iron or Lead Anvil.
And craft a Mushroom Staff on it.
And it summons this cute little mushroom.
Which is a pretty good starting weapon.
