NATASHA'S BLENDING TIPS
• Your base oil (the one you use most of) will largely determine the final texture / skin feel, color (to a degree), scent and shelf-life so keep this in mind when you choose it. I would opt for something fairly neutral in scent (not tamanu!) and non-greasy (I personally like lighter weight /fast absorbing oils)
• Esters like caprylic/capric triglyceride and squalane will give a lighter, silky feel to the oil blend and are great additions which can be used in any quantity
• Add other oils for specific benefits e.g. hempseed or calendula (soothing/calming), rosehip or evening primrose (mature skin)
• Certain oils can cause staining esp carotenoid-rich ones like sea buckthorn and carrot tissue so these should be used at a very small % e.g. around 2%
• Good "all-rounder"/base oils: grapeseed (all skin types), jojoba (all skin types), safflower (all skin types), avocado (dry skin - for a richer feel), macadamia (dry skin - lighter feel), argan (dry skin - lighter feel)
• Make sure you add a small amount of Vitamin E (tocopherol) - around 0.5% - which acts as an antioxidant to extend shelf life, so that your blend doesn't go rancid
