In this video It is demonstrated how you best recondition your boots by applying wax when the leather is prepared with its pores open for the best absorption of the wax. It is discussed how the difference between different leather conditioning products affect the leather impregnation and the result of your maintenance of your wader boots. Heat is applied as the leather pores have been filled with the wax to further enhance the waxing procedure (leather absorption) and allow more wax to be applied. Proper maintenance of leather is necessary for a long lasting boot. Nikwax is applied for the seams as a low viscous wax that is partly waterborne and have easier to penetrate into a dry leather, whereas the Meindl Sport Wax is used for the bigger surfaces and partly melted to make it easier to flow into the pores of the leather. In the commentary section can be found some references to microscopy on how the leather of kangaroo looks inside with its protein fibrils that are naturally kept conditioned by fat and water in the animal. Kangaroo leather is the toghest leather on the market due to its dense structure, making it the unique leather material in moto GP motorcycle clothing. Always remember when you carry out these leather treatment that leather should never be heated to a temperature higher than where butter is melting. Good luck!
