I came up with two potential redesigns that the town could consider to fix the actual safety issues posed by high speed vehicles at this crossing location. Punishing rail trail users through performative safety theater while the roadway itself goes unaddressed is misguided, and I hope the town will make some actual substantive changes at this crossing.
