How to Factory Reset a Chromecast USB Device on Your TV or Computer
A Google Chromecast can be factory reset directly from the device itself using the physical reset button. This works even if the Chromecast is not connected to Wi-Fi or will not appear in the Google Home app.
This method works for most Chromecast models connected to a TV, monitor, or computer monitor through HDMI.
Factory Reset Using the Chromecast Device
Plug the Chromecast into your TV or monitor.
Make sure the Chromecast has power using:
USB power adapter plugged into wall outlet (recommended)
or USB power from the TV
Locate the small reset button on the Chromecast device.
Press and HOLD the button for about 25 seconds.
Watch the LED light:
It may blink orange, red, or white depending on model.
Continue holding until the light changes and the device restarts.
Release the button.
The Chromecast will reboot and return to factory default settings.
Reset Using Google Home App (If Still Connected)
If the Chromecast still connects to Wi-Fi:
Open the Google Home app.
Select your Chromecast.
Tap Settings.

Important Notes
Older Chromecast models like the H2G2-42 only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Some newer routers may require enabling compatibility mode for older devices.
If setup fails after reset, try using:
another HDMI port

a wall power adapter instead of TV USB power
