The Game Before the Gate King and Queen is a new weekly boss introduced as part of Genshin Impact's 5.6 update. This boss is a quirky, funny, and simple fight that is very fun. The Game Before the Gate King and Queen has 4 phases. The first phase is just fighting the King chess piece itself with some occasional assistance from the Bishop, the Rook, the Knight, and the pawns. The Rook and Pawns phase mandates that you lure the King into crashing into the Pawns in order to get your DPS phase. The Bishop phase is very simply just a goal of dodging the diagonal attacks and depleting its Electro shield HP to get your DPS phase. After you nearly deplete all of the King's HP, it will move into Phase 2 where he will be replaced by the Queen. The Queen has 4 attacks she can do. The only ranged attack she has is easily thwarted by swapping characters to break the tracking, and the rest of them are melee range attacks. Simply moving one or two squares over is enough to dodge all of these attacks and she should be down in no time.
Phase 3 is intimidating but also simple. The King is a melee fighter, and the Queen is a caster. Both of them are not particularly aggressive and don't really boast any dangerous moves. They do have one combo attack that is occasionally annoying to dodge but as a whole all of their moves can be dodged out of. The main mechanic here is that both the King and the Queen have separate one-shot Ultimate attacks that require you to immediately go to the center and start Freezing them. This means using Cryo and Hydro to Freeze the boss in order to avoid the one-shot attack. This will also net you a nice little DPS phase. Using Pyro attacks during this phase will actively deplete the progress towards freezing them, so I don't recommend using Pyro when you're interacting with the mechanic
Should you kill either one of them before the other, if the living monarch is above 25% HP, they will sacrifice half of their current HP to resurrect their other half. If they are below 25% HP, then they will become enraged and deal increased damage.

MAYBE DON'T BRING THESE UNITS:
None but Pyro is quite bad for you during the Ulti phase only. Just avoid using Pyro during that phase and you're good.

With the Natlan arc ending in Genshin Impact, players will soon enjoy filler versions before the new region becomes available.
