This video will show you how to disable active corners on Windows 8. These are the things that pop up when you move your mouse to the corners of the screen. It allows you to disable it everywhere, or just for the start screen. You will have to install a program, Classic Shell (also known as Classic Start) that is a free program that adds a start button to Windows 8.
Simply go to ninite.com as shown in the video, and then choose the Classic Start option under Utilities, then hit the get installer button at the bottom.
Once the downloader is downloaded, double click on it to start it, and then hit yes if it asks to run with privileges. THen just let it do its thing, and hit close when it finishes.
After it's done, you will have a start button on the taskbar, right click on the start button, and choose the settings option.
In the window that pops up, choose "All Settings" at the bottom, and then choose the "WIndows 8 Settings" tab at the top.
In that tab, choose the option you want for active corners, to turn it off on all screens, or just on the start screen. You can re-enable them at any time.
