This video will show you how to enable viewing of hidden files and folders on Windows 8. This is different from how it is done on Windows 7, Vista, and XP. Hidden folders will show up as gray icons when they are enabled for viewing. An example of a hidden folder (to see if you have hidden folders turned on or off) is C:\Users\Username\AppData. The AppData folder is a hidden folder and will only show up if you have show hidden folders on.

There are many files that are hidden that you may need to get to, just for example, the Bitcoin Qt client stores a backup of the bitcoin wallet in the AppData folder under bitcoin, so to import a new wallet you need access to this folder.
