The 16 ounce stainless king thermos insulated stainless steel food jar does a great job of holding heat in, and it can be used to cook a variety of things, including steel cut oats. Steel cut oats normally take 30 minutes to cook in a pot on the stove over fire, but you can cook them in a couple of hours in a thermos if you know what to do. To cook steel cut oatmeal in a thermos, start with a quarter cup of steel cut oats and a 16 ounce thermos, then before you put the oats into the thermos, put boiling water into the thermos and put the lid on and let it heat up for a few minutes. Then dump that water out, add your oats and any flavoring to the thermos, and then quickly pour in boiling water and close the lid. I fill the 16 ounce thermos a little more than halfway to the top, and the steel cut oats come out great, and I have oatmeal for breakfast two hours later.
