In this video, I answer the question “Why would anybody ride a beach cruiser when there are much better bicycles available?” My answer to this question is that the beach cruiser allows you to relax and slow down, and you can’t go fast even if you want to. Most beach cruisers are very basic, and have a single gear and a coaster brake, and that gear is low enough to go up hills, and it means that you can’t really go very fast on it either. It has big fat, wide heavy tires that almost never have a puncture, and also can’t go very fast, but are very stable and have good traction. If you just want to ride a bike as transportation or to enjoy the view at the beach as you slowly ride along, than a beach cruiser is the perfect vehicle.
