I'll show you a Very Simple XP Farm in Minecraft 26.1.
To do this, place a double chest right here.
Funnel two Hoppers into it like this.
Place two Furnaces on top of them.
On top of the furnaces, place 2 Hoppers.
And place 2 more Hoppers attached to the back wall as well.
Then, place double chests on top of those hoppers here and here.
Place a Lever on each of the furnaces.
Next, we need to put items that can be smelted into the top chest.
And in this back chest, put any resource that the furnace can use as fuel.
After everything we put in finishes smelting, flip this lever.
Put another item that can be smelted directly into the furnace.
Wait for it to finish smelting.
And simply take it out.
As you can see, we received all the experience that accumulated from the previous items.
Do the exact same thing with the second furnace.
