In 2001, Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan, and a stacked roster of ex-WCW and WWF stars set out to build wrestling's next major promotion: the XWF (Xtreme Wrestling Federation). With massive hype and a star-studded taping at Universal Studios, the goal was simple: fill the massive void left behind by World Championship Wrestling.
In this video, we break down Episode 1 of the XWF. From the arena setup, commentary team, the authority figures (Roddy Piper and Sable) to the match card and backstage production. We'll look at what worked, what immediately flopped, and why this ambitious attempt to replace WCW never made it to television networks.
