We asked six Canadians in their 50s to share how much they spend on skincare and beauty products each year.

Fifty looks a lot different now than how it used to - and that's thanks to everything from a generation that loves Botox to skincare to staying the heck out of the sun.

The mid-life beauty conversation is moving away from anti-aging messaging and toward longevity and aging well, experts say. The latest data from Statistics Canada showed households including those aged 40 to 54 spent $2,467 on personal care in 2023 and those aged 55 to 64 spent $1,759, increases since 2021. This included a boost in skin care spending. The non-stop rollout of products and technology begs the question: is it worth it?
